I cheered reading this response—my immediate gut response reading this poor woman’s letter was, what the hell is wrong with her husband ? He’s obviously the problem.

I literally laughed out loud when I got to the solution part. I never laugh when I see people in pain but this consequence was perfect. What an ass. She can do better, unless he begs forgiveness and works on owning his words and his perspective.

Well done, Ms. Polly! After I stopped laughing, I wondered why is it that this lovely woman’s first impulse was to think that there was something wrong with her? To be somehow thankful that the “explanation” for her husband’s mean, withholding behavior was something that she needed to fix about herself—what does that say about the unnecessary weight of misplaced responsibility and guilt that she has taken on—automatically? Purposefully? She is actually making excuses for his unforgivable cruelty! I’m willing to bet this isn’t the first time. Save yourself, lovely lady. Get back into life without this dead weight.

I hope the gynecologist the letter writer visits just hands her a print out of this with a little RX stamped across the top!

This is excellent advice. Infact, there should be a dedicated corner in all doctor's offices/hospitals. AS A REMINDER.

To be honest, I'm concerned about the "lonely American male", but then I read this shit and think "you're lonely because you are an asshole".
